Linda Balcombe, Dot Fennell, C. L. McKenzie, and Morry Watkins served on the interim committee. Dr. Bennett's first Sunday was, August 20, 1995, and he served until October of 1997—a little more than two years.
During his ministry, Dr. Bennett initiated White Christmas, a special, local mission project that Calvary continues to celebrate each year. In addition, the church purchased two adjoining lots in 1995 and 1996. Three individuals were also called into the ministry during this time. Tommy Lupton attended Southeastern Seminary, and on June 14, 2000 he was recommended to be licensed; Paul Boaz, recommended in January 1997 to attend Southeastern Seminary; Aaron King, ordained March 7, 1999; and Eddie Williams, ordained December 3, 1995.
While Dr. Bennett was pastor, Rev. Vance Midgett, minister of youth, resigned to accept a call as pastor of a local church. Rev. Midgett's last Sunday at Calvary was in February 1997.
