"Approved Workmen are not Ashamed"
2nd Timothy 2:15

Calvary Baptist's Awana Club is a Bible centered organization for children from ages 3 through sixth grade. The acrostic Awana comes
from the first letters of Timothy 2:15: Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. You can learn more about the history of Awana HERE.
Our program runs from the first Wednesday in September after Labor Day until the second Wednesday in May, with our closing ceremonies
on the second Wednesday in May. By visiting the links below, you can learn more about the different clubs that best fit your child's age group.

The Awana program meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30 until 8:00 while our other ministries are taking place. We also provide Wednesday
night suppers for families who may leave straight from work and need to have a good meal before attending Wednesday Evening ministries. The
Cubbies meet in one of the classrooms on the first floor of the educational building while Sparks and Truth and Training groups meet on the Third floor.

All clubber's have the opportunity to earn awards. Awards given during the year will be worn on the clubber's uniform. Ribbons, plaques and
trophies are given for the completion of one or more handbooks. All awards are given out the same night sections are signed off as completed.
To complete a handbook during a club year (32 weeks), your child should complete three sections per week.

Please note that we use word discipline which means to train or teach, NOT the word punish. We strive to teach our clubber's acceptable
methods of behavior during club meetings. We have two forms of discipline procedures at Awana.
1. The Five Count - used for an entire club. The person in charge will count to five slowly and loud enough to be heard by the count
of "five", all clubber's should be quiet and ready to follow direction.
2. The Three Count - used for disciplining an individual clubber who continues to misbehave after repeated correction. The count of "one"
will be given with an explanation of what misbehavior needs to stop and what will happen if a "two" or "three" count is needed. A count of "two"
will mean a clubber will be removed from their club and will meet with the commander and club Director and told what behavior must immediately
cease. A three count is a rare occurrence and will not stop your child from attending future Awana club meetings.

The Awana uniform is a vital part of the club program. The wearing of the uniform is a privilege that the clubbers earn upon completion of their
Entrance Booklet. The Entrance Booklet is usually completed within the first two to four weeks of the club attendance. All awards are worn on the
uniform and no award can be given until a clubber has a uniform on which to wear them. Each club has its own uniform, and it is worn for the two to
three years the clubber is in that club. Every leader and child should wear their uniform to each meeting. We require leaders and children to wear an
athletic type shoe "sneakers" to ALL club meetings for their safety and it is considered to be part of their uniform.

Through the grace of God and the generous offerings of our church, Calvary's Awana ministry charges no dues. Replacement fees, however, must
be charged if your child loses their book, awards or uniform.
